It is known that planning a wedding can be a very stressful process. People book their date sometimes years in advance as you have so much to save for and arrange in that time. Obviously, you can hire a wedding planner to help you out, but I would say the majority of people in the UK tend to arrange it all themselves. There is so much to think about when planning a wedding and you need to make sure you think of everything to ensure your day runs as smoothly without any mishaps.
If you’re struggling to handle everything yourself then you should definitely ask for help from your friends and family. I’m sure they would love to be involved and take away some of the stress and pressure from yourself. You can also use online help for ideas and advice such as Confetti which can guide you in the right direction for everything you need to know.
This is most likely the first thing you will think of when planning your wedding. Whether you and your partner find somewhere you love together, or you make a suggestion of somewhere you have always wanted to get married this will be at the top of your list. You need to find the most perfect location, which the two of you love, and if you’re lucky won’t be too far away from where you live so you and your guests don’t have to travel far to get there. This can always be an issue with any fussy guests you’re inviting who tend to complain about everything. And of course you can’t be expected to provide travel for everyone.
I would presume that most girls have already pictured the style of wedding dress they would wear when they get married. Whether you’re into a slim fitted dress or a big statement marshmallow, you will most likely have mind what kind of thing you’d like to go for. I can imagine going to the dress shop with your family and bridesmaids would be such an exciting trip. Being able to look around at all the beautiful dresses and trying them on in the lovely dressing rooms. I’m sure once you try them all on you will know straight away which dress is the one. Picking your own dress, I would imagine would be easier than your bridesmaids. You have to cater for different heights, body sizes and skin tone and try to make sure that they’re all happy with the dress you choose for them. It is probably unlikely that each one of your bridesmaids will be 100% happy with their outfits, but they most likely wouldn’t voice this to you, or at least you would hope not. Women are obviously much more into their wedding outfits than the men. I can’t imagine many many picturing their wedding day suit all through their lives. It is so much easier for them, simply choosing which colour suit and then whichever style suits them most. I would say the groomsmen will be easier to please than the bridesmaids so this shouldn’t be such a hard task.
For me the food is one of the most important things as I’m a total foodie. However, this can be quite a difficult choice when you’re catering for so many people. There would be no way that you could possibly choose a three-course meal that each one of your guests will like. It is a clever idea to maybe have a couple of choices which you send to people prior to the day so they do have a small choice and will get something they will probably like even if not every course. It seems quite popular these days to have a sit-down meal during the day and a BBQ type of buffet on the evening which is good as people can just pick throughout the evening and it is a more relaxed environment. As long as you and your partner are happy then that is the main thing. I’m sure after the hours of drinking and dancing that your guests will have been part of that they won’t be picky on what food is provided by the evening.
