Your health should be one of your biggest concerns in life, because let’s face it, there are tons of things that we can’t control, and having no control can be very stressful and difficult to deal with, because it’s very normal to fear things that we aren’t able to take charge of, like flying in an aeroplane for example. We are having to put our trust into someone that we don’t know, and as a result, make ourselves vulnerable, and this is very hard for a lot of people to do. But rather than wasting years over things that we can’t change, we should be focusing on the things we can, like our health for example.
We are the ones deciding how we look after our bodies overall. Every single decision that is made can have an impact, be it big or small, good and bad, so why not make it our job to ensure we do all that we can to live the best lifestyle in order to stay healthy, and just as importantly – happy.
Believe it or not, our mental health is greatly affected by the choices we make and the experiences we’ve been through. And although you may feel certain types of ways about things, doesn’t mean that you will think and feel that way forever. We are our own worst enemies, and we will often tell ourselves that we’re not capable or good enough – but we are – you are. You just need to learn which voice to listen to and which one to ignore.
Here’s how to take control of your health, for the better.
There is nothing embarrassing or shameful about reaching out for help. If anything, you are doing something so positive, that others should look at you for inspiration. It’s a very big step admitting that there is something wrong, and then taking action to do something about it, be it going to a rehab clinic, or speaking to a doctor. It’s brave and scary all at the same time, but know that this is the beginning of a better life.
Exercising allows your body to release a chemical in the brain called endorphins, and this is something that makes you feel amazing and on top of the world, and what makes the experience even better, is that it doesn’t cost you a thing. It can be as simple as dancing around in your bedroom to your favourite song on the radio. This classes as a good dose of cardio, that not only burns fat and calories, but is so much fun at the same time.
It’s very easy for people to get the wrong impression of you because they aren’t aware of what’s truly going on behind closed doors. Take your boss as an example – although their opinion doesn’t really matter, it may be a lot easier to tell them briefly what you’re struggling with, as that way they have a better understanding and can offer you some support if and when you need it.
