You may be sick and tired of people telling you that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but it is kind of vital. Do you know why? It’s because breakfast is our first intake of calories and nutrients after a long fast during sleep. That means our body needs fuel to get going and breakfast it what provides it. However, you may come across a problem with this if your you don’t really like breakfast or are just getting bored of the same old dishes. That is why below you will find some exciting breakfast suggestions that will get your taste buds watering and your energy level up for the rest of the day.
Quick but interesting
One of the biggest problems with breakfast is not that people don’t want to eat in the morning, but they just don’t have any time to make or eat a meal before they have to leave for work or get on with their day. Solve this by making our breakfast ahead of time like you do your lunch, and then just grab it on the way out in the morning. You can even eat on the way to the train station if you are really pressed for time.
Suitable suggestions for this type of quick, but still delicious breakfast include wholemeal wraps or sandwiches. Fill with raspberry jam, unsweetened chocolate spread, or peanut butter and grab a banana from the fruit bowl on your way out to add to the nutritional value.
Cooked eggs and breakfast meats such as bacon, ham, and sausage can work really well in a sandwich or wrap too. Just add the cooked meat to a quick scramble and leave it to cool. Then add to the wrap or sandwich and microwave in the morning for a hot and nutritious treat.
Takes a little time
Porridge is one of the best breakfast you can get. It’s warming and perfect for cold winter mornings, as well as being full of slow release oats that give you a steady stream of energy throughout the day.
Of course, there are some people that insist they do not like this marvellous meal, although their opinion can often be changed by adding a little flavour to the mix such as maple syrup, cinnamon, and even peanut butter and banana. It’s probably best to steer clear of the traditional Scottish serving suggestion of Whiskey though, especially if it’s a work day!
Go all out
For a delicious breakfast that you can’t beat why not treat yourself to some homemade French toast? Yes, it takes little time, but it’s so worth it.
All you need is some slices of wholemeal bread. Then take a beaten egg and place it in a shallow dish. Dip the bread into the egg, so it’s coated on both sides and add to a hot pan. Cook on both sides until the egg is brown. Serve with fruit and a sprinkle of icing sugar, or remove the sugar and dip in brown sauce to taste! It’s anything but boring!
