Christmas is a fab time of year, isn’t it? I don’t know about you but I love preparing for the Big Day. Wrapping presents, drinking hot chocolate, writing my cards while watching Christmas films. If you’re hosting a big gathering, it might be worth knowing what the nation’s favourite festive flavours are.
I love cheese and it would appear that I’m not alone in my cheese-loving ways. It was recently discovered that cheese is our number 1 favourite thing to eat at Christmas. Virginia Hayward have recently discovered that out of everything, and not just any cheese, but the ultimate British favourite, cheddar cheese. Clearly, we all have good taste!
Other cheeses you can’t get enough of include creamy blue stilton, white stilton, tangy goat’s cheese and rich brie. I love nothing more than enjoying a good quality cheese on delicious crackers and a fine red wine, which happens to be Virginia Hayward’s best-selling type of drink.
I thoroughly enjoy having the family round to mine at Christmas; my boyfriend and I love playing host! Admittedly, it can be challenging cooking for 12 people but it’s wonderful having festive fun with your family and friends. It’s worth any stress! I saw this Christmas dinner guide shared on Twitter (here) and will definitely now be making my gravy the night before now!
However, I must admit that I enjoy unwinding after a busy day of cooking and entertaining on the sofa with a glass of good red wine. Like the majority of the British public, red wine is a favourite of mine. Other tipples we all enjoy include white wine, bubbly Champagne, sparkling Prosecco and delicious full-bodied port.
Do you enjoy tucking into a tasty cheeseboard over the festive period? I’d love to know what your favourite festive treats are!
